Finding the Perfect Pacific Northwest Wedding Videographer | Getting Hitched

When we set out to find our videographer, we really had no names that immediately came to mind. Landing on Nathan was truly a blessing, and I can’t wait to shout him from the rooftops today! If you’re still looking for your perfect Pacific Northwest wedding videographer, look no further than Nathan of Ochoa Wedding Films.

In the beginning, it was up to us to do our research and ultimately trust that whomever we picked would be able to capture us the way we desired. I had come across the occasional wedding montage here and there - from vloggers I follow and members of our community who got married over the years, so I knew the gist of what I wanted, but didn’t have that instant connection with anyone specific.

My first instinct was to ask our photographer Sydney if she knew of anyone, and boy did she deliver!

Our Perfect Pacific Northwest Wedding Videographer

When you first set out to find your perfect video pro, it’s important to review what all you’re getting included in their package. Obviously you want the raw footage of the entire ceremony and speeches, but you also want to look for someone who can deliver on a highlight film (what I fondly call a “montage”) - about 5-8 minutes of the best moments, perhaps with an audio overlay of speeches + vows in addition to music - you catch my drift!

I immediately began diving into Nathan’s video portfolio and the first thing I thought was: “OMG, this is exactly like the editing style of my inspiration videos I’ve loved for years!” It was important to me that whoever we picked approached their work with a contemporary, sentimental style, focused on capturing those special candid moments with an elevated flair. I know it sounds ridiculous, but surrounding area drone footage was pretty much mandatory to me… along with an innate ability to weave together all the various elements of the day to tell a story that is unique and fitting to each couple.

Nathan’s knack for storytelling and capturing individuals in their best light totally floored me. There was no contest and as soon as Jared saw his work, it was a no brainer - we had to hire him. So, I emailed and we planned our eventual wedding date around his availability!

Here’s a few of the questions we asked Nathan:

  • Is your lodging worked into your fee?

  • What is your travel fee?

  • We are definitely interested in drone footage, how does that shake out?

  • Could we pay extra to receive raw footage of the formal dances (first dance, parent dances)?

The process of selection was easy peasy and required very little back and forth! I firmly believe that when you go into it with a specific idea of what you want / a bit of research prior, you will set up the relationship with your videographer for success. We are beyond thrilled to have Nathan capture our special day and can’t wait to see what magic he creates alongside Sydney! Count on that YouTube channel debut of our montage as soon as it’s delivered. :)
