Picking Our Dream Pacific Northwest Wedding Photographer | Getting Hitched

Okay… to be fair, we didn’t really have to think at all on this one. I’ve known Sydney would be my wedding / life photographer since the day I first worked with her. A genuine, gorgeous human, Sydney goes above and beyond for her clients and friends (the latter I feel lucky I get to call her as well) and her talent is unmatched! If you’re searching for the perfect Pacific Northwest wedding photographer, you’re in the right place.

Even as I’m beginning this blog post in preparation for our meeting with Sydney tomorrow morning (to be finished after), I find myself endlessly scrolling her Instagram and website, soaking up all of the magic that she has created for me and her other lucky clients. She is truly a light in this world and her craft is perfection.

Sydney’s specialty lies within her natural light, candid lifestyle photography, capturing the most touching, raw moments that a couple experiences on their big day. Anyone can learn to edit a photo with a pretty preset, but Sydney has such a gift in the way that she can capture just the right moments in time with the most effortless experience - and you just can’t teach that!

With each unique couple comes a unique wedding, and there will naturally be a larger amount of the overall budget dedicated to a specific item or vendor - some would prefer to spend a lot on the venue to accomplish an unforgettable destination wedding, the more foodie-inclined may opt to put a lot into catering and an extravagant meal (we are foodies, too, don’t get me wrong!), but then there’s folks like us who highly value the memories we will get to make with our loved ones so we have decided to invest the majority of our budget into photos and video production.

Our Dream Pacific Northwest Wedding Photographer

We kicked things off with Sydney by meeting at our fave local coffee shop, dreaming up all things wedding over pastries and lattes. Jared had previously booked proposal photos with her at my one request for our engagement day, so now it was time to talk about engagement photos + wedding photography.

Here’s a few of the questions we asked Sydney:

  • Is your lodging worked into your fee?

  • What is your travel fee?

  • About how many images are in your wedding galleries?

  • Do you offer a discount on engagement shoots when a couple books you for their wedding?

  • Do you have trusted videographer recommendations? (This was one vendor we didn’t have any idea on at first, so we felt confident if we had the option to choose someone Sydney could vouch for).

Sydney also provided a TON of helpful advice re: things to ask our venue and other vendors, shared her heavy involvement in the entire process, and gave us insights with examples from previous weddings. We greatly appreciated this wealth of knowledge.

By the end of our consultation, my tummy was filled with butterflies of anticipation! I cannot wait to see what magic she creates.
