Rehearsal Dinner Easy, Popular Mexican Catering in Portland, Oregon | Getting Hitched
When you’re planning your wedding, you’re not only planning the big day, but also the rehearsal dinner the night before! Early on in the catering research process, we learned about ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria, a local favorite in Portland, and knew we wanted to use them for our rehearsal dinner when we ended up going in a different direction to meet our main venue’s alcohol requirements for the wedding dinner. This raved about, popular Mexican catering in Portland, Oregon was worth all the hype!
Rehearsal Dinner Mexican Catering in Portland, Oregon
Traditionally, the rehearsal dinner is a time for the bridal party and close family to eat after the rehearsal in the venue space, get acquainted ahead of time, and spend some brief, quality downtime before the chaos begins. For us, we expanded that tradition a bit and invited about half the wedding guest list to the rehearsal dinner, embracing more time with close family and friends who are flying into PDX to be with us, inviting anyone who was a part of our wedding ceremony and entertainment, plus everyone who chose to stay in our hotel room block as a thank you.
We gave our parents and wedding crew members some thoughtful gifts and offered up open mic to anyone who wouldn’t be giving a speech on the big day. We played some of our favorite tunes to set the mood and had a few interactive activities to keep guests engaged: a looping slideshow on a projector, a “Bride & Groom Throughout the Years” memory table filled with pictures, and a photo booth with custom props from Etsy (plus two friends who interviewed each guest to give their wisdom or advice for us going into married life!). Our hotel staffed us with a bartender, so the only thing we needed was to get some delivery catering!
We first reached out to ¿Por Qué No? early this year, getting a feel for their pricing and the amounts of food that they would recommend for our 25-30 person event. We landed on a taco bar with housemade corn tortillas, three different types of meat fillings, beans + rice, salsa, plus salad and chips + guac on the side. (We also picked up some of our favorite donuts in the city for dessert).
Every single person we communicated with was enthusiastic, cheerful, helpful, and incredibly quick in their communication turnaround (we’re talking maybe a day tops, but usually an hour) - and that’s saying a lot for hospitality… trust us! We quickly realized that they lived up to their hype and were so excited to make their food part of our special weekend!
Their third party delivery courier showed up right on time and didn’t have any issues getting the food into the right spot. Easy, breezy!
Here’s a few of the questions we asked PQN in the beginning:
How much food would you recommend for our size event? Do you suggest a staffed event or a delivery approach?
How close to the event can we update our total attendee count and when do we owe you a deposit?
I assume you are licensed and insured?
It was special for us to be able to have Mexican food at our rehearsal given Kathryn’s half-Mexican heritage, adding an extra nice touch to our celebrations, but who are we kidding: We just really LOVE Mexican food regardless! We hope our friends and family will be talking about our unique event fondly. Consider ¿Por Qué No?’s wonderful staff and delicious food for your next event - you will not regret it!
