How I Designed My “Bride’s Last Lap” Drag Brunch Bachelorette Party in Seattle, Washington
I simply could not be more thrilled with how my drag brunch Bachelorette Party in Seattle, Washington turned out! I knew I wanted a drag brunch Bachelorette Party from the jump, and the second I stepped foot in Taqueria Cantina in Seattle, my dream came to life. After much back-and-forth, stressful nights, and a few tears, it all came together and the incredible vendor team simply killed it!

All solid Bachelorette parties start with a theme! That being said, many themes are wildly overdone and I didn’t feel like I really connected with any of the common themes when I was searching Pinterest for inspiration. Some of these include Disco Party, Drunk in Love, Dazed & Engaged, Final Rodeo, RIP Single Years, and Camp Bach. These are all equally adorable themes, but drag is what it’s all about in my world! I knew I wanted to make the theme silly and have it be a play on words. Most drag fans know that the hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race utilizes a car / drag racing theme, so “Bride’s Last Lap” only seemed natural to me since drag can mean either the art of gender impersonation OR car racing. I DIYed all my decorations with the help of some incredible friends - check out this Reel to see how the decor all came together! You can also see how I made all my guests t-shirts, as well as my goodie bags (part one and part two). The venue itself was already stunning and everything worked together so well.
As far as entertainment goes, I personally hired 3 of my favorite drag queens, but generously received 2 more added onto the lineup after an unavoidable venue issue came up and we had to switch Taqueria locations last minute. Everyone was so blown away by all of the incredible talent and each queen had a unique style of drag that made the event very well-rounded. Our final lineup ended up being Ladie Chablis, Old Witch, Holli B. Sinclair, Drew Paradisco, and Jessica Paradisco. Along with the queens was DJ Vince Urban, one of Seattle’s best! He set the tone for the event and pumped up the group, even throwing in some of his dad jokes for an extra Vince touch.
Later on, my best friend Lauren helped me organize two interactive games for the group. We played a Bride & Groom “Over/Under” trivia game where guests had to guess if the true number was over or under a given figure, as well as a photo memory guessing game allowing them to test their knowledge of where we had made various memories throughout our 10 year relationship. I loved how each of these games gave me the opportunity to share sweet stories about the two of us with my favorite people, and it truly showcased how much our friends & family listen and love us.
The food was simply next level! Taqueria Cantina is known for their fabulous brunch and they did not hold back. Because of our unexpected last minute venue change (plumbing problems!), they scraped the previous limited menu we had formulated together (in order to accommodate the catered approach we initially hired them for) and opened up their entire brunch menu so guests could pick exactly what they wanted, provided all sorts of drinks and shots, chips, guac & salsa, fresh fruit, and dessert plates full of churros and flan. Nobody went home with a hungry belly! Daniel and the entire staff at Taqueria went above and beyond to make this day special and relaxing.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Taqueria Cantina drag brunch without a little friendly tease from the legendary Ladie Chablis! We had the ultimate twerking contest that two of my friends absolutely slayed and a handful of us went home with full size bottles of quality tequila. Every single detail was executed flawlessly and incredibly generously by all involved. Other than my wedding day, I have never felt so loved and looked after. I’m so freakin’ lucky!
After this, the final hour of the party was gift opening, featuring some of the most thoughtful, intentional items I’ve ever received. HUGE thank you to my incredible community of friends and family who went above and beyond for me during this wedding season. :)
As a queer Chicana, it meant the world to me to be able to celebrate my next life milestone at this wonderful queer, Mexican-owned restaurant, surrounded by a variety of local queer artists. If you’re currently trying to plan your future Bachelorette party, my best advice is to make it scream YOU, be something that you naturally enjoy (and not just a trending destination or activity), and incorporate a good balance of fun games, engaging entertainment, great food/drinks, and cute decor/theme. I hope this post sparked some ideas for you! Go and have the time of your life! :)
