The Best Food Tour in Portland, Oregon (Forktown)
If you’re a foodie like us, you’d LOVE Forktown Food Tours owned by the incredible Heidi (we were lucky enough to have Heidi as our tour guide, too!). We swear, this is the best food tour in Portland, Oregon!
During our most recent trip to the City of Roses, we took Heidi’s Mississippi Ave. Tour and enjoyed delicious nibbles from multiple establishments along the way. The tour was about 3 hours long and about a mile of walking at a nice brisk pace with some minor uphills involved - great exercise and great food! :)
Our first stop was at Mee Sen Thai Eatery where we enjoyed a noodle salad and some wine. The main group got meat in theirs, but a couple of us opted for tofu.
The second stop was just delightful! Part of the food cart community, Little Conejo served us up a couple amazing tacos, one featuring some yummy oyster mushrooms!
The third spot was a little further down at Ecliptic Brewing, an icon in the craft-brewing niche. We tried out some delicious cider and they were so kind to customize Kathryn’s food making it vegetarian-friendly.
Jared got to enjoy their signature juicy burger, while Kathryn was more than satisfied with her beet + cheese sandwich - a little sweet and a little savory!
Then, we headed back up to our fourth spot, The Meadow, to cleanse our palates with some fine chocolates and salts. While there, local wine maker Alto Cirrus had a pop-up tasting, so you bet we tried some of that, too! Seriously some of the best wine we’ve ever tasted.
Wrapping up the day, we finished at our fifth and final spot of Ruby Jewel, an ice cream joint famous for their ice cream sandwiches - TO-DIE-FOR! We loved both the chocolate chip cookie & salted caramel ice cream, and lemon cookie & lavender honey ice cream sandwiches and highly recommend them both.
All in all, it was a fabulous trip around town getting to know this unique Portland neighborhood that is trend-setting in the food scene! Have you checked out any Mississippi Ave. food carts or restaurants?
