Plus Size Summer Outfits 2025 | August-September 2025 Nuuly Roundups

August-September’s Nuuly clothing rental lineup was pure main character energy. These rentals carried me through everything from fall shopping and coffee runs to a drag show for the books (shoutout to the Boulet Brothers!). I’m convinced Nuuly’s secretly curating my personality at this point - and I’m not mad about it! ;)

(AUGUST-SEPTEMBER Nuuly Roundup)

Get Free Seersucker Pull-On Shorts by Free People

These shorts are an instant favorite! Lightweight, comfy, and perfectly versatile, they worked just as well for a downtown work day as they would for a casual summer afternoon. The gingham print adds a touch of playful charm, and the breezy fabric made them easy to wear all day long. I rented an XL but would definitely size down next time - these run roomy! If the L fits better, I’ll be snagging them for keeps.

Why I loved it:

  • Airy, lightweight fabric

  • So easy to dress up or down

  • Classic gingham that never goes out of style

  • Comfy, flattering fit (just size down!)

Helena Midi Dress by Anthropologie

This dress was so dreamy for a warm summer evening at my local vintage tugboat festival! The soft lilac color and flowy silhouette gave off effortless beauty, perfect for any summery occasion where you want to look put-together but stay comfortable. It definitely ran large - I rented a 1X since smaller sizes were unavailable, but would’ve preferred an XL or L for a better fit. Still, it draped beautifully and made me feel so cutesy!

Why I loved it:

  • Breezy, romantic silhouette

  • Flowy fabric perfect for warm nights

  • Ideal for picnics, festivals, or dressed-up summer events

  • Elegant without trying too hard

Smocked Peplum Blouse by Love the Label

This top was a total dream! The ruffled sleeves and smocked bodice make it both flattering and fun - easy to dress up for dinner out or wear casually while running errands. I loved the option to wear the sleeves on or off the shoulder for two completely different vibes. The delicate straps can get a little flat after washing, so a quick iron helps keep them looking flowy and fresh. I’m wearing an XL.

Why I loved it:

  • Romantic, feminine fit that flatters curves

  • Works for both casual and dressed-up looks

  • Versatile on/off-shoulder styling

  • Easy breezy summer staple

Tiered Flutter-Sleeve Dress by Anthropologie

These shorts were such a fun staple this month - I wore them everywhere, including on my annual fall shopping trip with friends! The embroidered detail gives them a unique, elevated touch while still feeling casual and comfy. They do run small (the reviews weren’t lying!), and I probably would’ve been more comfortable in a 1X, but the XL still worked. I paired them with my spooky “FRIENDS” tee for an easy, fall-themed outfit.

Why I loved it:

  • Unique embroidered design

  • Easy, pull-on comfort

  • Perfect with a graphic tee or simple tank

Vegan Leather Midi Dress By Anthropologie

This dress was EVERYTHINGGG: edgy, romantic, and just the right amount of spooky! I wore it to the Dragula Season 666 tour and it fit the vibe perfectly. The corset-inspired faux leather bodice and tulle skirt made for such a dramatic combo, and I got lots of compliments (including from our winner who said she’d wear it herself out of drag - the ultimate approval!). The zipper was a little stuck from normal wear & tear, but once I got it up, the fit was flawless - even after sizing down. I paired it with sleek pointy flats for the full moment and felt like a gothic fairy!

Why I loved it:

  • Statement-making and spooky chic

  • Flattering corset-style bodice

  • Perfect for concerts, drag shows, or Halloween glam

  • Compliment magnet - and drag queen approved!

These months reminded me just how fun it is to take fashion risks and play with pieces I’d never normally grab off the rack. This Nuuly edit had a little bit of everything - comfort, confidence, and some unforgettable memories stitched right in. If you’re looking for a reason to shake up your style, consider this your sign to start renting your next obsession!

What’s your fave from the haul? Have any Nuuly pieces you’d recommend to a fellow plus size queen?
