Hosting Galentine's at Home | Fun Galentine's Ideas
This Galentine’s, I was lucky enough to celebrate with two of my best girlies! We went for an affordable, at-home celebration and I am obsessed with how it all turned out. I figured I’d pop on here and share some of my fun Galentine’s ideas for hosting Galentine’s at home.
Fun Galentine’s Ideas
To kick things off, I picked up some delicious chocolates from a local-ish Portland, Oregon brand Moonstruck. You could always go the cheap route, but I like to spoil my friends when possible! The card section at my local grocer also had the cutest Galentine’s-specific cards so I grabbed a couple of those, too, fit for my relationship with each gal.
For my first Galentine’s, I was celebrating with my friend Lauren. Her special addition to our day was these beautiful custom made cupcakes from one of our fave local bakeries, Gotti Sweets! They tasted as good as they look - if you ever have the chance, be sure you try one of her Oreo cupcakes… you won’t regret it. For the decor, Lauren found these inexpensive cuties at Target and we taped them to the wall for some added spirit.
My contribution was a charcuterie board, because duh! I got Lauren her favorite Boursin Gournay cheese in the Garlic & Fine Herbs flavor, myself some soft Brie which I warmed up + topped with honey, and the Trader Joe’s Spanish Cheese Tapas Sampler, paired with a fresh baguette, Beecher’s cheddar crackers, and some generic rosemary saltine crackers (not pictured).
About a week earlier, Lauren and I made the joint decision to pool our money together and buy The Adventure Challenge’s Friends Edition adventure book. This book is such an innovative, iconic idea for friends looking to spice things up (they have a couple’s edition, too!). The book is filled with prompts ranging in time, price, season, you name it - and they’re all scratch-offs, so you don’t know what you’re getting until you dive in! We decided to opt for the version that includes the beautiful custom Lomo Instant camera so we can document everything, and this cam is no joke - it comes with a variety of settings and lots of little idea cards. Stay tuned to see our adventures on Instagram with the hashtag #AdventuresofLoKat.
It was time for my 2nd night of Galentine’s shenanigans with my friend Shanta, and we opted for a lowkey evening of watching Euphoria, baking and cooking up a storm. She was so thoughtful and brought me this cute bouquet of flowers! For dinner, we went the meal kit route. I’ve been loving my Sunbasket subscription service and this Spanish green bean tofu dish knocked our socks off!
Dreaming up our special treats, we decided to try our hand at crafting some delectable red velvet cupcakes from scratch and let me tell you, they turned out INCREDIBLE! We mixed the batter ourselves (no box kit!) and even made our own cream cheese frosting. Originally I got inspiration from Pinterest and was going to use raspberries to make the shape of a heart, but quickly realized there wasn’t enough real estate for that so I just plopped them in the middle! The fresh fruit added a nice bonus flavor. For drinks, we made our own version of Dirty Shirley’s with blood orange vodka, grenadine, and Sprite on the rocks, garnished with toothpicks of fresh raspberries + strawberries for an extra special touch.
All in all, this year was a glorious Galentine’s celebration and I cherished every minute of it!
