8 Favorite Coffee Shops in Olympia, Washington

I’m a coffee lover, but not so much an aficionado - I don’t know a lot of the fancy terminology and I’m okay with that, all I care about is if it tastes good! I’m also a big fan of getting out of the house and working elsewhere for the day as someone who works from home, so I have a natural pull to the coffee shops themselves. I did pick up on a lot of random coffee knowledge when I worked on the marketing team for a local spot that has since relocated and I was super grateful to be able to appreciate the art more through this. This is my roundup of my all-time favorite coffee shops in Olympia, Washington for locals and visitors alike! :)

8 Favorite Coffee Shops in Olympia, Washington

1. Ember Goods

We all know this spot is the holy grail for us Olympians with an eye for aesthetics! Ember Goods is the cutest Pacific Northwest themed shop with specialty goods and apparel, but they’re also a coffee roaster + coffee shop. Their space will make you feel right at home and you can usually find a spot to work on a weekday even with limited seating available. If you can snag the comfy couch, consider yourself extra lucky! *Bagel pictured above is from Schwartz’s down the street!

2. Two Sisters Coffee

Two Sisters has gotta be the cutest little spot in Tumwater! I often hangout here to get some work done whenever I want to be extra productive. Located in the professional plaza housing the Department of Health, this spot is rarely packed and perfect for those of us who want to get out of the house and work somewhere else. Bonus: They make the most fantastic coffee flights in town! Serious YUM. Can also highly recommend their chocolate swirl banana bread - to die for!

3. Owl’s Nest Coffee + Pastries

My fave salad in all of the land was created right here in downtown at Owl’s Nest! See that gorgeous beauty!? The Oly Salad paired with one of their delicious pastries and an iced latte = the perfect day! Add a friend’s good company or a co-working group and you’ve got yourself the cherry on top. They’ve expanded beyond their initial tiny space to include plentiful new seating options and beautiful artwork/welcoming vibes. To find a spot like this downtown is rare!

4. Fog & Fern Coffeehouse

The perfect little gem in Lacey by the transit center and SPSCC, Fog & Fern is a lovely spot with the local, friendly energy us Olympians have come to know and love so well. I’m never disappointed by their wide variety of delicious warm sandwiches and seasonal drink specials. A great spot to read, gather, or work, but keep in mind they close early and it fills up QUICK!

5. Olympia Coffee Roasters

One of my first loves, Oly Coffee’s two larger locations in Olympia (downtown and Wildwood) are both fabulous, inviting spaces to spend time with a friend, meet someone new, or buckle in for some meaningful work. Indulge in their very own pastries from their Seattle bakery, Moonrise Bakery, too! I highly recommend their cheesy pull-apart bread, mochinut doughnuts, or any of their magical croissants (especially the everything bagel croissant!).

6. Ebony & Ivory Coffee

Located in Lacey, Ebony & Ivory is known for their delicious coffee flights and spacious next door “Hub” seating area, setting the scene for a productive work session. You’ll often find me here working the day away! If you’re in Tacoma or Federal Way looking for a cuppa, check out their even fancier locations over there (spoiler: there’s a treehouse!).

7. Samayra Coffee Co.

Samayra is the most aesthetic coffee shop on the westside of Oly and even more magical during the holidays! Don’t just take my word for it - order one of their holiday coffee mocktails and thank me later. :) I often come here to get work done, take client meetings, and soak up the vibes. Catch me always ordering the tiramisu latte (it’s their most popular bev!) and a potato burrito or avocado toast for lunch.

8. Papaver Roaster House

This newer gem in downtown is a must-visit! Usually calm on week days with a clean, friendly atmosphere in a calm part of town by the waterfront, this spot is perfect for a day of work. Their iconic black sea salted caramel latte is my go-to, along with any of their delectable Ukranian pastry treats! This spot feels like a little deserved indulgence.

Any one of these spots is the perfect place to grab your next morning cuppa joe!

Which spot are you excited to try next? Have your own fave to add to this list? Sound off in the comments!
