Our Delicious Wedding Catering in Portland, Oregon | Getting Hitched
Wedding food kind of gets a bad rap and isn’t exactly the most desired food around, but when we approached our big day’s catering, we knew we wanted something at least decently enjoyable and tasty, and man were we pleased when we discovered Pearl Catering! I did some research early on for the surrounding catering companies and we knew we wanted a company that offered both bar + dinner - full service! Pearl covered everything we wanted and then some.
Delicious Wedding Catering in Portland, Oregon: pearl catering
Pearl Catering is Portland’s leading catering company and comes with a collection of positive reviews and local reputation. While we have experienced a certain degree of turnover with our sales reps throughout the process (that comes with the hospitality territory), each individual has been very helpful and friendly, especially our current rep, Tricia. She goes above and beyond and is always cheerful and willing to help.
Something that we really enjoy about Pearl’s approach is how they incorporate local / regional flair in their food. We had no preconceived ideas about what type of food we wanted at our wedding but we adore PDX and were happy to have some Oregonian vibes. Ultimately, we landed on two passed hors d'oeuvres: Steak & Potato Bites and Spanish Bruschetta. Then, we did a Hazelnut Chicken and White Cheddar Asparagus Risotto as our entrees, accompanied by Artisan Bread & Butter, a Pear Walnut Salad, White Cheddar & Gruyere Au Gratin Potatoes, and Wood Grilled Seasonal Vegetables with a Smoked Tomato Aioli. YUM. For the bar/beverages, we’ll be doing assorted beers and wines, hard cider, hard seltzer, sodas, lemonade/iced tea, hot coffee and tea, and of course water.
We’re doing buffet-style for the dinner and Tricia has eagerly (and tirelessly) worked to ensure that our vegan guest and other guests with specific dietary / allergy health concerns were not just accommodated but well taken care of. Being pescatarian myself, that is a huge priority of mine and I really dislike it when couples don’t think about their diverse guests so I always knew I wanted to work with a catering company who valued this, too. It’s overlooked more often than you’d expect!
In March, we went to PDX for our tasting experience! We are very pleased with the menu and cannot wait. Watch our tasting experience in this video recap!
The overall process has involved a lot of back and forth, amending how Pearl would typically handle rentals + event planning (since we are working with a professional designer to complete our rentals), and Tricia has been cheery and accommodating throughout the whole journey.
Here’s a few of the questions we asked Pearl:
How easy is it for us to make dietary accommodations for guests?
Are the glasses, plates, etc. serving-ware included in our package? What if we need to upgrade something?
Do you all cut and serve cake that isn’t baked by your company? What about other desserts?
What are our options for the bar? All inclusive vs. by consumption.
We are so appreciative to this staff for doing some serious hand-holding and helping us understand the process as a first time bride & groom! :) Cannot wait to DEVOUR their delectable creations all night long!
