In the beginning of this wedding planning journey, we weren’t completely sold on the “hotel block” concept, but after some research (and a horrible experience with another local hotel company), we landed at Jupiter NEXT (and Jupiter Original) and couldn’t resist. Kathryn had stayed at Jupiter NEXT a couple years prior and had such a wonderful time. The Jupiter is a stylish boutique hotel with industrial yet cozy vibes, very complimentary to our wedding venue, Union/Pine. Today we’re spilling the beans on the absolute best hotel for weddings in Portland, Oregon!

So, to break it down for you: A hotel wedding “block” is a set amount of rooms that you reserve ahead of time to lock in the lowest possible rate and save space for your friends and family who need it. You are typically contractually obligated to cover at least 80% (or more) of these rooms, so don’t take it lightly if you’re considering it!
We surveyed our people early on to see who wanted in on the commitment and about 90% of our committed guests followed through which we were super grateful for. We saw mixed reviews online from past marriers on whether or not they would do a room block again, but for us it was a no-brainer. This central location allows for our crew to soak up a TON of time together throughout the wedding weekend and is incredibly convenient. We were even able to host our rehearsal dinner with them!
We knew we needed a rehearsal dinner venue that was easy and close by, and a huge perk of The Jupiter is their variety of event spaces. They even host weddings! Had we not totally fallen in love with our venue, they would’ve been an easy alternate. For the rehearsal dinner, we used their DreamBOX space and couldn’t have been more pleased. Their team set up everything for us and all we needed to do was bring in catering of our choice and beautify it with some flowers and decor!
Throughout our stay, all of our guests raved about how friendly and accommodating the staff was and we couldn’t agree more. In sales, Eden and her team went above and beyond, and the front desk staff complimented their efforts beautifully. Anything we needed, they were there and willing to help.
We were also able to enjoy numerous meals and social moments in Hey Love, their award-winning bar and restaurant (best hotel bar in the US, as a matter of fact!).
