72 Hours in Port Townsend, Washington - Mini Moon (Fall 2023)
Immediately after our October wedding, my new husband Jared and I spent our “mini moon” in Port Townsend, Washington, anticipating our week-long honeymoon in Whistler, B.C. come April 2024. I write these travel roundups to help others gather ideas for upcoming trips. This is 72 Hours in Port Townsend, Washington!

Banana Leaf Thai Bistro
I have to highlight this spot as easily the best Thai food I’ve ever consumed and our entire table said they loved it! I had the pumpkin curry with tofu and fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce. Absolutely divine! You can’t go wrong with anything on this menu and they happen to have a lot of options for us vegetarian/vegan folks.
Velocity Coffee
I kicked off my second day in the town getting some work done at Velocity, a spacious coffee shop with the friendliest baristas. I tried their homemade brown sugar cardamom syrup in a latte - so yum! This is a dog-friendly spot right along the water and the WiFi is quick and reliable!
Shopping in Town
There are so many quaint shops and bookstores to check out along the main street in town. I ended up doing some shopping for Christmas and birthday gifts and spent a couple hours taking it all in. Unique shopping is one of the main attractions of the town and shouldn’t be missed! It’s a fantastic way to support small businesses. Some must-visit spots include Imprint Bookstore, Getables, and Conservatory Coastal Home.
Siren’s Gastropub
A fabulous pub to grab a large bite to eat or a bev, Siren’s is the talk of the town and for good reason. During warm weather months, enjoy the view while sitting out on their gorgeous patio by the water. Highly recommend their homemade black bean burger with chipotle mayo! Delish.
Elevated Ice Cream & Candy Shop
The best spot for kids and adults alike, Elevated offers an extensive candy and ice cream experience for all! We enjoyed indulging a bit, grabbing some of their gummy candies, hot chocolates, and a scoop to go. This place was right next to our hotel and so tempting!
Better Living Through Coffee
It truly was better living at this cute coffee shop! I woke up before the sun had a chance to rise and picked a seat by the window where I could watch the ferry boats, seals, and waves as the world began to wake up. This is one of those special moments in life that may seem insignificant but is certainly not something you should pass up when you get the chance! This has to be my number one must-see when visiting Port Townsend - I’d recommend it to everybody. The WiFi here is a bit spottier but you can’t beat a cup of their Cafe Chetzemoka (named after the park below) - spicy and so so good!
Tommyknockers Cornish Pastry
These hand pies are simply delectable! I tried the vegan vindaloo that featured rich sweet potatoes and so many warm, delicious spices. If you’re down for an authentic Cornish meal, this is a must-stop spot for you! Great spot for lunch but I assume would be just as fabulous for dinner. Check their website so you don’t miss their daily themed specials!
Cafe Tenby
This spot is the ultimate tea drinker’s delight! I didn’t quite realize that it was so tea-specialized until I walked in (or that they did NOT offer public WiFi), but I got a london fog tea latte anyway and a blueberry muffin for the road. I know quite a few friends who would adore this spot and there was ample dining opportunity for those staying awhile.
Chetzemoka Park
I have some fond memories of this park from my childhood and revisiting just brought it all back to me. I remembered the hills, the paths, all of it. This is a great place to picnic with the family, complete with tables and a playground for the kids. The gazebo is next level and you’ll see some pretty fabulous views of the water, too!
Finistere
This fancy place is right up my alley! I will definitely be returning for their dinner service at some point and hope to sit out on their spacious patio. This time, Jared and I just grabbed a few appetizers to share before heading to our final stop of the trip, but we both raved about the meal and mentally bookmarked it for our return. This spot is definitely more high-end and offers a unique menu and fabulous atmosphere for happy hour.
Finn River Cidery
While not technically *in* Port Townsend, our final stop before heading back to Olympia was checking out Finn River Cidery! We have a retail location back at home but wanted to see the full operation since Jared’s employer helped them with an important project on their land and he told me so many good things about their business. We tried their cider flight (highly recommend the habanero cider if you’re okay with a bit of warm spice!), played some corn hole, and enjoyed the sunset. Each day offers something new onsite and we’d highly recommend stopping here on your way out of Port Townsend!
Hope this little recap gave you some ideas for your next visit to this quaint, calm town! :) Have a Port Townsend rec you think I need to try when I’m in town next? Pop it in the comments below!
