24 Hours in Seattle, Washington (Summer 2024)
This summer, my sweetie Jared and I tried the best day date idea - a random draw adventure around Seattle! Jared surprised me with this super fun date idea for my birthday back in May, and we finally got around to doing it post-surgery and the craze of the summer. We picked our spots from a hat and let fate guide the way! I write these little trip roundups to help others gather ideas for their upcoming trips. This is 24 Hours in Seattle, Washington!
24 Hours in Seattle, Washington
Brunch @ Lost Lake Diner
This is the cutest little spot on Capitol Hill and they make a mean eggs benedict! I have found memories of getting a hot coffee and reading a book (that I picked up from Elliott Bay - see below) with my friend Mandy while we waited to pick her sister up from a late night flight. I was happily surprised when Jared put this spot in the hat!
Elliott Bay Books
Since Lost Lake is right next door to Elliott Bay, we knew we had to give the bookstore a quick spin. I picked up Matthew Perry’s memoir and got a couple birthday cards for friends. This is one of my go-to spots in Seattle and love any chance I get to pop in!
The Burke Museum
Grabbing one of my picks from the hat, next up was The Burke Museum! I have been wanting to go to this museum for FOREVER now (although my dad says that I went there on a field trip with my elementary school class - oops! My memory is truly horrid). This museum is a fantastic blend of Indigenous art and culture and archeology / biology and will keep you entertained for at least a good hour or more. Don’t forget to swing by their cafe at the end of your visit for a hot drink and some fry bread.
Walk Greenlake
It’s probably shocking for me to say that I’ve never walked Greenlake in all the years I’ve been traveling to Seattle! This is the most perfect, gorgeous 3-mile stroll (even in pouring rain!) and I’m so glad we did it. This one is definitely going on our repeat list!
Lunch @ Layers
Before we headed out to the ballgame, we grabbed lunch at Layers, a unique sandwich shop across the road from Greenlake. The sandwich I tried is no longer on the menu but it was a gorgeous eggplant creation! Jared tried the Notorious P.I.G. and loved it. When you go, don’t forget to grab a side of their spuds (fingerling potatoes with green goddess sauce). YUM!
Seattle Mariners Game
It wouldn’t be a true Seattle day without a Mariners game, am I right!? We caught a fantastic game complete with a M’s win and a beautiful summer fireworks show.
Hope this little recap gave you some ideas for your next trip to the city! :) Have a Seattle rec you think I need to try? Pop it in the comments below!
